Far Horizon at a glance

Far Horizon Tours, was formed in 1992 by people who had over two and half decades of experience, in tourism to India. It was formed to provide a unique, fresh and personal approach for travel to the Indian subcontinent. The company’s ethos is to not only view the famous monuments of this great land but to experience what we call "Experiencing the Living Cultures of India".

In the last over one and half decades, the company has grown into one of the most widely respected inbound tour operator, with high quality service and innovative ideas. It employs over 60 executives in its India operation offices based in Delhi, Kerala, Rajasthan and Assam, which controls the extensive network of representatives through out the sub-continent. This is apart from nearly similar numbers of staff in it’s various infrastructure products located in the four corners of the region.

Being a tourism organization, which offers an in-house expertise ranging from, adventure travel including trekking and safaris, to cultural and leisure travel, it is a genuine one-stop India Travel shop.

The company also has overseas sales offices in USA, France, UK and Germany. It has leadership position from Spain and USA where it handles some of the largest up-market tour operators, along with tours from Germany, France, UK, Scandinavia and Australia.

Being one of the largest summer season operators it’s unique business profile gives it a unique edge with infrastructure in this region, to get most favored prices. With a movement of over 6500 international travelers, it offers the security and competiveness of a large operator, with the creativity and personalized services of a smaller operator. The organization has over its years shown a healthy 10-15% annual growth rate with over 100,000 satisfied travelers to its credit.

Being a tour leader driven company, it has an extensive tour leader training program with trainers from USA and UK, apart from in-house people, conducting the annual trip leader training workshops. Result is that it has its own hand picked trip leaders in various languages in each of the regions of India, Nepal and Bhutan.

All the operations are monitored by its quality assurance team, resulting in an over 85% ratings showing “Excellent” for its tours, where the philosophy is that good-is-not-good-enough.

Situated in modern Charmwood Plaza, our 8000 sq foot office is the nerve center of our operations. We also have offices in South India, East India and Rajasthan.

Deluxe group houseboat “Vaikundum” – Kerala Backwaters.
In our philosophy of "Leadership through Innovation" and our tradition of introducing newer concepts in the market, we created the 09 cabin houseboat "Vaikundum" on the backwaters of Kerala. A perfect vessel for group travel, and first of its kind, the boat is divided into lower and upper decks and has nine comfortable, well appointed and tastefully furnished cabins on the lower deck, each with large windows for uninterrupted views. With silent electric generation, air-conditioning and solar water heating, it offers a full range service. The upper deck has large air-conditioned dining area. A large sun deck in the front of the boat is an ideal place during day times for a sunbath or, evenings for star-gazing. With "Vaikundum", large groups of tourist can now together explore the pristine beauty of the backwaters of Kerala in comfort, which was not available to them before.

Deluxe FIT houseboat “Sauvernigam” – Kerala Backwaters.
Sauvernigam is the first eco friendly houseboat sailing the backwaters of Kerala! So much so that it became the benchmark for certifying boats in the backwaters. It is the winner of the "most eco-friendly tourism project in Kerala-1998-1999'. One of the biggest two bedroom air-conditioned boats on the backwaters, it is 75 feet long and 15 feet wide, In fact, the two large bedrooms it offers are almost 50% bigger than those of the other standard houseboats. The large sun deck offers a great view.

Dera Sand Dune Resort – Rajasthan.

In the distant reaches and vast expanse of the Thar Desert, far off the beaten tourist trail, we have constructed the unique and inspirational Dera Sand Dune Resort. Magnificently perched atop a 130 feet high stabilized sand dune, our resort is a wonderful base to explore this remote area of Rajasthan and, most importantly, to interact with the living cultures of rural India. From its inception, sustainable tourism and conservation, both of the natural environment and traditional village cultures, have been the primary motivating factors behind Far Horizon's involvement in the Jamba area and a primary reason for the establishment of the Dera Sand Dune Resort. The Resort's landscaping is hand-watered (using only grey water) to conserve water. The world’s first resort located in the heart of the famous Bishnoi tribal country, on a 130 ft. high dune also offers the world’s first pool on the dune, apart from a SPA, restaurants and bars.

Dera Lake View Retreat – Golden Triangle.

An off the beaten track destination, away from the main highway, leads you to this retreat which is in the rural countryside of Rajasthan. Our retreat is located near a monsoon lake. The cabins (also called "Deras") of the retreat, have air-conditioning, attached toilets having showers with running hot and cold water. The mode of transport is camels (camel carts - if you so desire). We use the local community for our various work in the retreat including supplying camels. In the evenings the local villagers perform around a campfire and many of our camel drivers will also join us. The location of the retreat is in a valley in the Aravali ranges between Agra and Jaipur, well off the main highway. It can be easily combined in an itinerary while visiting Delhi, Agra and Jaipur.

Luxury river cruise liner M.V. Mahabaahu – River Brahmaputra, Assam.

The M.V. MAHABAAHU will be the first and the most luxurious river cruise ship of India, cruising on the greatest river of Asia - the Brahmaputra River from September, 2010. The only river to flow under the shadows of the towering Eastern Himalayan mountains. On display will be three national parks, various tribal villages, Hindu tantric temples and and monasteries, ruins of old empires and tea plantations. The standard cabins and the SPA are in the Hull / Lower deck. The lounge, bar, reception and indoor dinning are in the main deck. While the luxury, deluxe, suite cabins are in the main deck are in the first and second decks, offering great views. With facilities of indoor and open restaurants, entertainment, bar, lounge, viewing deck, indoor theatre, sports room and the swimming pool, along with the storage for the excursion boats to be lowered by davits, are located in the upper decks. At the top is the Sun deck with sunbathing chairs.

Deluxe Festival and Safari Camps – Ladakh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Kerala, North East.

A festival a day (or more) - that's India !! Either the huge cattle gatherings of Pushkar, the temple festivals of Desert, the grand elephant festivals of Kerala, monastery festivals of Ladakh or, the tribal festivals of the North East India, takes you to a land of make belief, rituals and kings and queens of yesteryear. We offer deluxe tented camps, set up specially for these fairs, in the heart of the country, away from the tourist circuit.. The camps are comfortable, with all modern amenities. Each tent has two beds, wall to wall carpets, attached toilets, running hot and cold showers. Also, there are proper dining arrangements, including sit down facilities offering Indian, Chinese and Continental cuisines. Using the above mentioned exclusive experiences, we can create a unique tour to touch the soul of the area you are visiting.
